A few days after Tina Turner’s passing in 2023, I found myself working a flight to Zurich. My crew and I decided to pay our respects to the legendary queen of rock—Tina Turner! A passenger suggested that we visit her home in the town of Kusnacht, Switzerland, nestled on the shores of Lake Zurich. As a Swiss citizen since 2013, Tina lived in an impressive estate by the lake. We embarked on a pilgrimage, leaving flowers, heartfelt notes, and candles as a tribute to the icon.

The Seebar: Where Caribbean Vibes Meet Tina Turner’s Melodic Echoes

After paying our respects to the beloved Queen Tina, we walked down the street to the See Bar, nestled cozily in Küsnacht—a place where the sun-kissed shores of the Caribbean rendezvous with the Mediterranean’s salty embrace.

As you cross the threshold into this oasis, the air shifts. It’s as if the ghost of Tina Turner herself—yes, the legendary rock ‘n’ roll priestess—whispers, “Simply the best!” You see, dear hearts, the Seebar stands just down the street from Tina’s former abode. Her soulful tunes still echo through the cobblestone lanes, harmonizing with the clinking of glasses and the laughter of patrons.

Now, let’s talk mocktails. These virgin elixirs—crafted with the precision of a maestro tuning a guitar—will have you swaying like Tina during her iconic performances. Sip one, and suddenly you’re shimmying across the dance floor, belting out “Private Dancer” with all the gusto of a tropical storm. 🎤💃

And the ambiance? Oh, it’s smoother than Tina’s sultry voice. Imagine lounging in a hammock, sipping a cocktail, while the lake winks at you like a mischievous muse. The sun dips low, casting golden ripples on the water, and you think, “Ike, we don’t need another cocktail—we’ve got paradise right here!” 🌅🍹

But wait, there’s more! As the moon rises, casting its silver glow, you’ll find yourself humming, “What’s love got to do with it?” Perhaps it’s the moonlight, or maybe it’s the lingering notes of “River Deep, Mountain High” that infuse the air. Either way, you’ll feel like a love survivor, ready to conquer the dance floor. 🌕❤️

The Seebar isn’t just a place; it’s a state of mind. It’s where you can kick off your shoes (or stilettos, if you’re channeling Tina), let loose, and dance like nobody’s watching.

So, my friends, heed the siren call of the Seebar. It’s where Tina’s spirit mingles with the clink of ice cubes, where mocktails flow like liquid gold, and where you’ll find yourself humming, “What’s love got to do with it?” Spoiler alert: Everything.

And as you leave, remember: Tina may have left the building, but her essence lingers. So raise your glass, toast to the past, and say, “Simply the best, better than all the rest!” 🥂🌟

There you have it, fellow adventurers! The Seebar awaits, and Tina’s legacy dances in every sunbeam. Until next time, keep those hips swaying and those mocktails flowing! 🌴🎵

Nelson's: An Electric 80's Disco Oasis

That evening we went straight to Nelson's, the time-traveling disco den in Zurich. There we were—fresh from our day trip in Kusnacht, our senses tingling like Marty McFly when he first stepped into the DeLorean. Our mission? To continue the celebration of the one and only Tina Turner, the queen of leg kicks and hair flips.

As we waltzed through Nelson’s doors, the air crackled with nostalgia. Suddenly, we were whisked back to the era of shoulder pads, cassette tapes, and questionable fashion choices. The DJ, bless their soul, was like Doc Brown himself—spinning tunes from the '80s and '90s with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker.

And then it happened—the opening chords of “What’s Love Got to Do with It” reverberated through the room. The dance floor erupted like a time-traveling mosh pit. People flung their arms in the air, belting out lyrics as if their life depended on it. “What’s love got to do, got to do with it?” they sang, their voices echoing off the mirrored walls.

And as we stumbled out at dawn, disheveled but grinning, we knew one thing: Nelsons had delivered. We walked to a late-night McDonald’s to grab some munchies soon after but as a vegetarian. I wasn’t able to join my crew. However, I was fortunate enough to be able to grab something at the grocery store in the morning before heading out to see Tina’s estate. Zurich is expensive, and one of the ways you can save money is by going to a grocery store.
