Ah, dear wanderer, let me weave for you a tale of Dublin’s mystical embrace—a place where time dances to its own fiddle tune, and layovers unfurl like ancient scrolls.
Ireland is one of my favorite destinations, it's full of wonder, castles, and fairytales. It's even more magical when I get to fly with my friends. 🌟✨
On this particular layover, I ended up flying with my friend Angie and Leah, but fate had a whimsical twist —enter Benton, a fledgling flight attendant fresh from the cosmic inflight nest. We wrapped him in our celestial wings, whispered tales of moonbeams and non-rev passes, and vowed to teach him the art of navigating both scheduling and fun layovers.
Here are three things we did to enjoy our 30-hour layover.” 🛫✨
1. Trinity Whispers at the Heart of Eternity
After our short nap, we woke up on a rainy day, as the Liffey whispered its ancient secrets, We took an Uber, and ventured into the hallowed halls of Trinity College. We, the starry-eyed seekers of literary magic, embarked on a quest to behold the fabled Long Room. Whispers of its resemblance to the hallowed Hogwarts library danced through our imaginations like mischievous pixies. Our hearts fluttered, anticipation brewing like a cauldron of forgotten spells.
But lo and behold! As we entered the Long Room, our eyes widened like saucers, only to find… nothing. The shelves stood bare, their wooden spines echoing tales untold. No ancient tomes, no enchanted scrolls, not even a dog-eared potion recipe. Alas, the Long Room was but a canvas, its pages temporarily erased by the brushstrokes of renovation.

We sighed, our disappointment akin to a deflated dirigible plum. The ghosts of literary giants must have chuckled from their spectral perches, whispering, “Fear not, dear readers! The magic lies not in the parchment, but in the longing—the yearning for stories yet unwritten.”
We were so bummed trailing behind like loyal house-elves. But fear not, for our hearts remained open, ready to embrace the next chapter, The Book of Kells—its illuminated pages a symphony of colors and cryptic symbols. We were amazed, and inspired we left, hearts alight, carrying whispers of wisdom and wonder.
2. The Banks Culinary Spell
After visiting the enchanting Book of Kells, we met up with Leah after her shopping spree to The Bank of College Green: a place where time dances on the edge of reality, where the whispers of centuries past echo through its hallowed halls. 🌟
My friend Leah opened the doors to our adventure, and made the reservation. She wove her magic, securing a table amidst the symphony of clinking cutlery and murmured conversations.
The Bank of College Green stood ready, its secrets hidden behind stone walls.
As we stepped across the threshold, the air shimmered with enchantment. The Book of Kells had beckoned us, its ancient pages yearning for curious eyes. But little did we know that our journey would lead us to a place where culinary magic awaited. It's been around since Viking times. Imagine that! The exterior—Franco-Scottish vibes. The main banking hall, once a hub of earthly transactions, now a cathedral of opulence. Stone walls with stories etched into them. And inside? A merchant’s dream. Stained glass, mosaic floors, and plasterwork that probably took wizards to carve.
🍽️ Feasts Fit for Dreamers The croquette and tomato soup arrived, a duet of flavors that danced upon our tongues. Legit amazing, as if the very essence of sun-kissed tomatoes and whispered secrets had been stirred into existence.

It’s like they bottled sunshine and sprinkled it with fairy dust. And the kale ravioli? Delish! Seriously, those little pastas held secrets—probably whispered by ancient Irish elves.

But wait, there’s more! Fancy lemonade. Not your average lemonade, my friend. This was like sipping stardust. Lemons from a mystical orchard, sugar crystals spun by moon fairies. Each gulp transported us to a realm where taste buds did the tango.
In the basement, descend, if you dare, to the nether regions. There lies the heart of mystery—the vaults. Chat wood safes, guardians of secrets, their iron hearts beat in sync with the city’s pulse. Gold once flowed through these veins, but now they cradle memories, relics, and perhaps a ghost or two.
The Bank of College Green wove its magic around us, leaving us spellbound. As we departed, bellies full and hearts lighter, we knew: this was no ordinary meal. It was an incantation, a chapter in our own Book of Wanderings
The Bank of College Green is located at 20-22 College Green, Dublin 2, D02 C868, Ireland
