I wasn't planning on doing anything on my layover in Delhi, but I did a tour of Agra with one of my crew members. She would go to the Taj Mahal alone, so I joined her. The Taj Mahal has been on one of my bucket lists, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do this. It is part of the World Heritage Sites, one of the most beautiful places in the world. I had to go! We landed around 10 pm and woke up at 3 am to start our tour. We hired a driver named Vinny, who took us on a 4-hour drive to Agra.

Unfortunately, I forgot to get his business card since the other flight attendant booked it, but I could save his contact information on his WhatsApp number. Delhi had a weekend curfew that day, and many businesses and tourist sites were closed because of the high number of COVID-19 cases. However, Agra was open so that we could tour the Taj Mahal.

If I could give you one piece of advice about getting to Agra, it would be to hire your driver with a car. Taking the train or other public transportation is a pain and not worth it.

When we arrived at the Taj Mahal, it did not surprise me how empty it was.

Amidst the pandemic, we found ourselves standing alone in the grandeur of the Taj Mahal. The world outside seemed to disappear as we marveled at its timeless beauty.
